Jay Osborne begins his 20th season as the Head Coach of the Nixa Eagles. He is entering his 25th season of coaching, and 23rd as a head coach. His teams have played in 6 State Tournaments, two final fours, and have won over 24 Tournament Titles, including 3 Blue and Gold Championships and 7 NIT Championships. He has an overall career record of 417-183.

Osborne has averaged 18 wins per year as the Nixa Coach since taking over in 1992, making him Nixa’s all time career coaching leader.  His 1999 Nixa Eagles won the 3A State Championship, with his 2002 team placing third in another trip to the Final Four.  His Eagle teams have won sportsmanship awards from the MSHSAA for their 1999 and 2002 Final Four appearances.  His teams are also a four time winner of the Blue and Gold Tournaments Speedy Collins sportsmanship award, and won the Southwest Missouri Officials Association award in 2002.

Prior to his arrival in Nixa, Osborne compiled a 51-7 record in two seasons at Pleasant Hope, including a Blue and Gold Championship and a 1992 State Quarterfinal appearance.  His first Head Coaching position was at Solomon, Kansas in 1989-90, guiding that team to its first winning season in over ten years, and conference championship.  He began his coaching career as an assistant for two seasons under Hall of Fame coach Brent Colley in Willow Springs, Missouri.

Osborne is a 1987 graduate of Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, and also holds a degree from Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, Kansas.  He received his Masters degree in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University, St. Charles, Missouri.  Osborne played four seasons of college football as a wide receiver for Butler County, Hutchinson, and Fort Hays State.

A native of Nickerson, Kansas, he was a four sport athlete.  He played basketball for his father Duane Osborne, and was the back-court teammate of former SMS Bear Randy Stange.  Their 1981 team finished third in the Kansas 4A State Tournament.  Osborne was a two time Mid-State Activities Association all conference selection in both basketball and football.

Osborne resides in Nixa with his wife Kim.  They have three children:  daughter Colbie, son Chandler, and son Dalton.
